How to Convert Image From Grayscale Mode to RGB Mode in GIMP?

While editing image using GIMP in Linux, accidentally image transformed to Grayscale as shown in the figure given below.


But the image i expected is below.

I have to transform the image from Grayscale Mode to RGB Mode . I followed the steps given below to change the mode from Grayscale to RGB.

Right click on the image => Image => Mode => RGB

Images adding further will be in RGB mode.
